August 2022,<br \/>\nDoors: 7pm<br \/>\nScreening: 8pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wir freuen uns sehr Lucas Haynes und viele Filmrollen vom Artist Film Workshop in Australia begr\u00fc\u00dfen zu d\u00fcrfen!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page19R_mcid34\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Initiated by filmmakers <strong>Richard Tuohy<\/strong> and <strong>Dianna Barrie,<\/strong> Melbourne\u2019s <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>Artist Film Workshop (AFW)<\/strong> began as a series of workshops and film-<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">only screenings in 2011. After 18 months, a lab space was <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">inaugurated in 2012 with more than 20 founding members, who <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">constructed a wet lab, dry dark room, common space and screening <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">room. The lab is furnished with cameras, projectors, printers and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">editing equipment. His approach to filmmaking is embedded in small gauge film,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and underpinned by a DIY approach to storytelling and cinematic ideas. He has<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">presented his films at major film festivals and film institutions including the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, The Austrian Film Museum, Melbourne<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">International Film Festival, and The Australian Centre for the Moving Image.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page2R_mcid4\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Louis Marlo is a Melbourne-based Composer, Sound artist and the owner of Felt<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Sense Records. His work revolves around the marriage of processed based<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">electronics, hand cut tape manipulations and a sonic response to the moving image.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page2R_mcid5\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"page2R_mcid5\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Richard Tuohy<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, <em>Valpi<\/em><\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, 2019 (9 mins, 16mm)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span id=\"page2R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Chilean city of Valpara\u00edso is nestled among hills, overseeing the Pacific Ocean,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">in the vicinity of active volcanoes and perilously close to the boundary between two<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">tectonic plates. Evoking this fault line, Valpi (Tectonics) is horizontally segmented,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">creating an immersive yet abstracted chronicle of both the multifaceted layers of<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">human life in this place and the politico-cultural fractures hidden beneath the surface.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page2R_mcid7\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Bio:<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page2R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Staunch advocates for the possibilities of hand made cinema, Tuohy and Barrie have<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">devoted much time and effort in sharing their knowledge through workshops and<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">classes. The tiny gaps in the fabric weave make for<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">dozens (hundreds? thousands?) of tiny pinholes.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page15R_mcid16\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Bio:<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Dianna Barrie (b. 1972, Melbourne) found her way into filmmaking as a middle<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ground between the pursuit of abstract music and philosophy. Ever pushing the limits<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of the hand processing of super 8 led to the establishment of nanolab with Richard<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Tuohy, and into the intersection of hand making and industrial cinema technology.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">This exploration has spread beyond individual work to the establishment of Artist<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Film Workshop, where celluloid is embraced and advocated by a community of<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">practitioners in Melbourne. Martodiharjo<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span id=\"page19R_mcid28\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(Bandung, Indonesia), mostly bo-ri-ng, Opinion Controller of Kammeretas and Komando<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Laboratorium Workshop of Lab Laba-Laba, at the moment he is experiencing the near-artist<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">experience. Many of his works are produced in a non-linear way, always spontaneous, with<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">little objective on how the work will look in a more traditional aesthetic sense. Notepad<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">method glitch, Toys generated glitch, Cinema 4d and Processing are some of the tools that<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">he constantly uses.<\/span> <\/span><span id=\"page19R_mcid29\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"page19R_mcid29\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Angus Peter<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span id=\"page19R_mcid30\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Angus likes to walk through the bush sometimes he takes a camera<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page19R_mcid31\" class=\"markedContent\">.<br role=\"presentation\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"page19R_mcid31\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Samaan Fieck, Kangaroo Apple<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span id=\"page19R_mcid32\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">lives on Gadubanud land, north of the Southern Ocean, surrounded by the Otway Ranges. He is the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">host of More Than the Ear Can Hold, a weekly broadcast on Apollo Bay Radio (3abr). He has exhibited \/<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">performed throughout Australia, Taiwan, Japan and New Zealand at; The Centre for Contemporary<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Photography, ACMI, Lacking Sound Festival (Taipei), Treasure Hill Artist Village (Taipei), Avantwhatever<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Festival and CAST gallery (Hobart) among others. Since moving to the Otways he has provided the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">composition and sound design for The Sublime and Remain In Light, in collaboration with These Are<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The Projects We Do Together.
