Are We There Yet?”: Films by Moira Tierney
curated by Masha Godovannaya

The presented program is the first comprehensive but not complete collection of films by experimental filmmaker Moira Tierney in Vienna.

Moira’s socio-political geographies have been covering Dublin, the city she was born, Paris, where she studied and New York, where she has been living for the past decades, as well as multiple other “stops” and “pauses” in cities, countries, and contexts. Her life as a nomad and wanderings between different political, social and cultural spaces are sensitively reflected in her works which in her own words, cast
“a critical eye on the structures we live with – particularly discriminatory structures – and disarm them with portraits of alternative structures, communal and individual.”

The works presented in the program unearth an intuitive sensitive observer who translates the narratives of the everyday into the visual poetry of cinema – led by her camera and socially engaged in diverse alternative communities. (For more information, please visit the filmmaker’s website.)
