with Chris Janka
As a sound recording medium, tape offers numerous applications simply due to its physical structure. The workshop begins with an overview of the history and function of tape recorders and then examines their practical applications using existing equipment: recording, playback, overdubs, editing techniques, tape loops, and tape flanging.
In the practical section, these methods are tested experimentally and combined. Together, participants will develop a room-filling, self-oscillating sound installation that integrates all the techniques covered in the workshop.
