In this lecture, I plan to combine experiences from my own filmmaking practice with research on the current media landscape.
A brief introduction to the history of Super 8 and cinema as a place for exchange and community.
Concluding in some hopefully collectively discussed reflections on Slow Cinema and the competition for our attention.
Josephine Ahnelt is a filmmaker and artist from Vienna. She is a founding member of filmkoop wien.
Her films focus on people and their living conditions and are mainly shot on Super 8 and 16mm.
Her work is shown internationally at film festivals, particularly in the experimental and documentary film categories.
In 2007, she graduated from the Friedl Kubelka School for Independent Film and in 2014 from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
In 2025, she won the documentary short film award at the Diagonale – Festival of Austrian Film.
